Position Overview

The Construction Site Superintendent is responsible for the successful on-site execution of large multi-family residential projects, including concrete and wood-framed construction. This role oversees daily site operations, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and leads the site team to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to Crowne Pacific’s high standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Safety

  • Implement, manage, and enforce Crowne Pacific’s on-site safety program.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment for all workers, trades, and visitors.
  • Monitor and document safety performance, ensuring WorkSafeBC regulations and company standards are consistently met.

Technical Oversight & Quality Control

  • Review drawings, specifications, and documents for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project goals.
  • Liaise with consultants, trades, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with all regulatory, architectural, and engineering requirements.
  • Uphold Crowne Pacific’s quality standards; monitor subcontractor performance and address quality concerns proactively.

Scheduling & Project Coordination

  • Develop, update, and maintain construction schedules, including short-interval lookaheads.
  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts or critical path issues and communicate solutions to the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate site activities daily to optimize workflow, productivity, and resource allocation.

Procurement & Cost Control

  • Order materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure continuous progress on site.
  • Request appropriate manpower levels to maintain schedule adherence.
  • Monitor project expenditures; review invoices, track labour and material costs, and address variances promptly.

Team Management & Communication

  • Provide supervision, coaching, and development to site personnel, fostering a strong and engaged team culture.
  • Communicate clearly with trades, internal teams, and external partners to maintain alignment on priorities, expectations, and timelines.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions efficiently.

    Preferred Qualifications

    What You Bring to the Team

    Experience & Technical Skills

    • Minimum 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience in construction.
    • 5+ years of experience in multi-family residential construction, specifically wood-frame buildings; experience with concrete podium structures is an asset.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and a solid understanding of the BC Building Code.
    • Working knowledge of software tools including Procore, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC requirements and construction safety best practices.
    • Ability to understand scheduling methodologies and identify critical path activities.
