Opportunity Summary

As the Superintendent, reporting to the Director of Construction, you will collaborate and lead the team to execute and deliver quality project(s) on time and on budget. Having at least 8+ plus years of experience, you will be responsible for providing overall supervision, coordination, and scheduling construction activities for the new Marriott hotel project in Downtown, Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities

  • With a collaboration style, coordinate and supervise all construction activities on site
  • Ensure project is constructed according to drawings, specifications, project schedule and budget
  • Maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the community
  • Develop project master schedule with project team and ensure subcontractors comply with project master schedule
  • Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Manager
  • Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety, progress reports, rental records, logs etc.
  • Organize and chair weekly subcontractor meetings
  • Supervise, mentor, coach and train project personnel
  • Assist in securing new work by participating in client interviews when required
  • Represent Metro-Can Construction at company-sponsored and industry events
  • Maintain awareness of current marketplace and trends to gain and maintain our competitive advantage and develop effective bid strategies

Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 8+ years previous experience working on commercial, and residential projects with a spend of $40 million plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise and execute large construction projects
  • Technical diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Excellent relationship building skills with strong focus on client relationship.
  • Be knowledgeable or willing to learn and work with the 6 Lean construction principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, drawings, specifications, procedures, scheduling, and safety requirements.
  • Proven creative problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with Procore being an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Strong relationship and team-building skills with proven integrity dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants.
