Job Description

The Archdiocese of Vancouver is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to play an instrumental role in fulfilling the priorities and goals of the Archdiocese of Vancouver. In this role, you will provide leadership and support to parishes on all capital projects, empowering and enabling parish communities to make transformational improvements that enhance the mission of the Church. The Project Manager is service-focused, and works to build our faith community, foster collaboration and deliver mission-ready solutions for today, tomorrow and generations to come.

Responsibilities

Provide direction, advice, leadership and guidance to our Pastors and parishes to achieve a predictable outcome;
Work closely with parish building committees to develop project plans, including scope of work, budget and schedule in order to accomplish project objectives;
Identify, assess, and secure project resources with the necessary skill sets; Investigate and analyze project challenges, evaluate risks, recommend and monitor solutions;
Review work in progress and assess completed work for accuracy, required results and quality assurance;
Represent the Archdiocese of Vancouver in discussions and negotiations with municipalities and other stakeholders on a variety of issues important to the project;
Assist in securing approvals as required;
Prepare and review a wide variety of technical documents and project reports including but not limited to briefing notes, business cases, design drawings and, at completion, the final project report;
Follow standards for the implementation of the project and monitor progress to confirm the work is carried out per schedule and in the most cost-effective manner;
Other tasks or duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of related project management experience on building projects utilizing wood frame, steel and concrete construction is required;
Diploma combined with extensive hands-on experience is preferred; a Bachelors level degree in project/construction management, structural/ mechanical/ electrical engineering or architecture may also be acceptable;
Excellent understanding of Project Management principles and skills;
Knowledge of business processes, budgets, forecasting, scheduling, risk management, and quality management using project management techniques;
Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills;
Exceptional communication, oral and written, and interpersonal skills required;
Good understanding of managing designers and contractors;
A working understanding of environmental regulations and approvals;
Customer service oriented to effectively manage project interests;
Proven ability to lead teams, inspire collaboration, and drive projects to successful completion;
Experience in one or more of asset management, property management or facilities management is considered an asset.
