Job Summary

As one of Unitech’s Project Managers you will hold a senior position within the company and be responsible for ALL aspects of your construction projects. Your resourcefulness, intelligence, confidence, and dedication will help ensure our construction projects are delivered in accordance with our client’s goals and priorities. You will be committed to building mutually respectful relationships based on trust through clarity and integrity of our systems, procedures, and project reporting. This role will perform daily responsibilities of this role, including but not limited to:

  • Participate in Support Services Level 10 Meeting
  • Develop and implement Pre-Construction activities including the adoption of the Project Charter, preparation of the risk mitigation strategies, and preparation of Unitech's Class A Pre-Tender Tracker budget
  • Provide estimating & scheduling at defined intervals and schedule the cost tracking system presentation outlining cost tracking, reporting & ongoing communication with client, consultants and other trades involved
  • Provide constructability input to optimize the design and detailing of each design stage that includes site restrictions, material suggestions, destructive investigations, and logistics for difficult or remote site
  • Review various plans, specifications, and construction details including tenders, contract trades, pricing for work, incoming invoices, site purchase orders, daily reports, and timesheets, incoming RFI, SI's, shop drawings, and work on site - from quality, safety, problems and discrepancies
  • Source and price construction products, materials, and equipment
  • Determine the various trades needed, and prepare scopes of work for trade contract packages, tailor project specification front end to suit each project and answer queries during the tender period, distribution of addenda
  • Attend to formal tender closings, assist with opening and entry of trade tenders into tracker
  • Collaborate with Site Superintendent daily and assist with conflict and dispute resolution during construction phases.
  • Chair and minute regular site meetings
  • Complete monthly reporting including detailed review of analysis sheet, monthly report package including cost forecasting, changes to project budget and schedule as well as recommendations made to the owner.
  • Prepare and implement a smooth project turnover plan including commissioning, start up, life safety inspections, systems demonstrations, and handover
  • Prepare post construction activities including preparation of final monthly report package, operating and maintenance manual requirements and review, administering warranties as required, and coordinating with 1-year warranty walk through
  • Organize lessons learned meeting with key project team members
  • Complete vendor rating for reach trade contractor and supplier in tracker

Preferred Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 Years prior experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Post secondary education with a B. Tech degree or an A.ScT degree would be an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of current construction methods, materials, procedures, drawings, specifications, and building codes
  • Budgeting and estimating skills including computer word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Exemplary communication skills with excellent command of English and strong analytic, mathematical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills who is self-motivated, and a creative thinker
  • Ability to work efficiently with service-oriented attitude, courteous, tact and diplomatic under stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employment and other designated information
  • Ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities, and priorities.
