Our Manufacturing department is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual for the position of EWP Designer.

Summary

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a Full-Time EWP Designer to join our team. The shifts are Monday - Friday. The wage range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 annually. Our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) starts upon hire and our Extended Health & Dental benefits start after 3 months. 

Responsibilities

  • Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers.
  • Create floor layouts for residential and commercial projects using Istruct.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ensure designs are accurate.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet design deadlines.
  • Maintain an emphasis on a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative and be proactive.

Preferred Qualifications

Requirements 

  • Experience with Istruct Software.
  • Experience with Sapphire, Plan Swift, or other relevant industry design software an asset.
  • Experience in managing the design component of projects from inception to project completion.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Engineered Wood Design.
  • Strong working knowledge of wood frame structures, including truss systems and design an asset.
  • Experience working with the BC Building Code an asset.
  • On site framing and general floor assembly knowledge an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office & Adobe Suites - Strong Excel skills required in addition to Word, Outlook and PDF.
  • Detail orientated with disciplined work habits.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize.
  • Self-starter with the capability to work independently.
