Position Summary

The Estimator & Procurement Coordinator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, sourcing materials, negotiating vendor agreements, and coordinating procurement activities for construction projects. This role plays a critical part in supporting project profitability, schedule adherence, and quality outcomes. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction methods and materials, and the ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed quantity takeoffs.
  • Develop full project cost estimates including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Assist in preparing tender packages for multi-family projects and develop subcontractor scopes of work.
  • Assist in analyzing subcontractor bids for accuracy, scope completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Maintain and update pricing databases, cost histories, and estimating templates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to clarify project scopes and develop value engineering options.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and estimating strategy discussions.

Procurement Responsibilities

  • Develop material and equipment procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.
  • Source, evaluate, and qualify vendors and suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Issue purchase orders, maintain accurate order records, and track deliveries.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to the jobsite.
  • Resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders, deliveries, change orders, or invoices.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and conduct periodic performance assessments.
  • Assist in identifying alternative materials or suppliers to manage cost and lead-time challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in estimating, procurement, or similar roles in the construction industry.
  • Experience with commercial, single family and multi-family construction.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); knowledge of Procore is an asset.
  • Ability to conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
