Opportunity Summary

Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you will play a critical role in delivering functional excellence in projects. We are looking for someone who understands that building projects and building relationships go hand in hand. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Study plans, specifications, addenda, and all construction conditions set by Owner/consultants to assess and validate overall project requirements.
  • Measure quantities from bid documents clarifying with consultants and subtrades all discrepancies, omissions, changes to cost estimate.
  • Completes full quantity take-off of on all labour, equipment and materials required to complete the project as per contract specifications to ensure accuracy of pricing.
  • Establishes a critical path schedule on the estimated milestone progress dates and completion timelines to meet the contract completion dates.
  • Solicits and follow-up pricing from subcontractors and suppliers for labour, equipment, and materials, to ascertain the lowest price while meeting safety and quality standards.
  • Analyze quotations submitted by subtrades/suppliers and assist other estimators in effectively closing various scopes.
  • Completes final cost estimate of a project incorporating all labour, equipment, and material data, pricing documentation, overhead and profit margins, and support in the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Coordinate and communicate with subtrades/suppliers on scope of work.
  • Provides tender recommendations to Project Managers for subcontract awards.
  • Prepare tender documents by organizing and preserving all estimate information for handing over to the project manager.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Several years of estimating experience in the construction industry.
  • Excellent math and good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Awareness of regulations and price trends.
  • A sound knowledge of building materials and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g. Onscreen Takeoff, Procore, Bluebeam) and excellent ability to adopt new technology.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the construction estimating field.
