Job Description

Mazzei Electric started in Nanaimo, BC in 1994. We started as a small family run company that focused on commercial service contracts. We now have a variety of multi-family residential, commercial, institutional, and light industrial projects across the province, complimented by our service departments that offer residential and commercial service and maintenance. We currently operate across Vancouver Island, and throughout the Okanagan.

Compensation for this role is between $44/hour and $46/hour, immediate health and dental benefits, and RRSP matching after one year. When you factor these together the total compensation is between $47.07/hour and $49.13/hour!

Responsibilities

  • Required to attend project win and project start Pre-Construction Meetings and have full working knowledge of project construction schedules, IFC & I.D drawings, and review submittal packages
  • Responsible for working with Project Managers and Forepersons to create project specific work packages including approved submittals and wiring layouts
  • Responsible for updating work packages including ESI’s and CD’s
  • Coordinating required labor with the Project Manager, Site Foreperson & the HR Manager
  • Professionalism in client/contractor relations
  • Ensuring advanced ordering of required B material, with the Site Foreperson
  • Projecting and requesting release of lot material, with the Project Manager
  • Support the Site Forepersons to create RFI’s 
  • Support the Site Forepersons to produce accurate MR’s 
  • Support & direct the Site Forepersons to ensure completion of required safety documents and training (through Safety Manager)
  • Reviewing weekly entered time for accuracy
  • Planning and participating in employee evaluations with project forepersons
  • Participating in worker disciplinary actions given (through HR Manager)
  • Responsible for employee layoffs with PM’s and HR
  • Responsible for mentoring the Site Forepersons on an ongoing basis
  • Follow safety programs and policies, wear appropriate PPE, and attend safety training as required
  • Present a positive, can-do attitude in the workplace
  • Acting as a Foreperson on sites as required

Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician required
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • FSR B or Masters ticket an asset
  • 5 years of experience leading successful electrical multi-family-residential and commercial construction projects
  • Intermediate demonstrable skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong creative problem solving, decision making, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and excellent organizational and customer service skills.
  • Aerial Work Platform, Fall Protection, First Aid training, and LSE Training course an asset
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Experience in all other electrical fields are an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of CEC
  • Basic hand tools, multi-meter, and cordless power tools
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work out of town, on call, longer shifts, and/or evening/night shifts as required
