Job Description



  • Attend Site Meetings - confirm site layout, site safety, the scope of works, protection, site measurements, and client interviews supported by PM/CM

  • Support all scheduled sub-trades onsite - include sub-trade walkthroughs for the scope of works

  • Oversee the daily coordination of the site with all crew - provide daily task lists, mentoring and quality checks. Resource management of GIB crew.

  • Hands-on skill sets required: site demolition, concrete work (footings/foundations), structural framing (steel beam, LVL's / posts), light framing, roof framing, stairs, drywall installation and finishing, windows and doors installation, flooring (hardwood, laminate, tile), finish carpentry (trim, panelling, doors), cabinetry, painting, exterior wood siding and trim, deck and stairs, fencing, carports, covered porches.

  • Oversee all waste material management.

  • Oversee finishes, fixtures, function, and style as per technical specifications/client.

  • Daily/Weekly check-in with Project Manager/Construction - scope progression + progress reports

  • Complete quality checks on all products before installation and manage any customization of products as required.

  • Manage any issues or problems that may impact the project plan being met. Escalate issues to the Manager as appropriate.

  • Site De-establishment.

  • Organizes delivery and pickups of material, dump runs, and power equipment.

  • Operates power equipment where certified and required. 

  • Directs and collaborates with subs, suppliers, manufacturers, engineers and city inspectors for purposes of scheduling and construction and product integration (EX- Awnings, railings, demo, excavation, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, hot tubs).

  • Operate and maintain carpentry/construction tools.

  • Create learning opportunities for apprentices and provide mentorship.

Administrative Duties:

  • Document Control - ensures up-to-date or revised drawings on-site

  • Communicates all changes/variations for all Project Works to CM.

  • Coordinates defects list with PC prior to client engagement.

  • Maintains a positive attitude and professional working relationship with employees, sub-trades, and clients.

  • Actively plans ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.

  • Assess labour requirements.

  • Actively represents GIB while on site and works to educate and manage client needs and expectations. 

  • Conducts health and safety inspections, toolbox talks, risk assessments, hazard assessments etc. 

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • A diploma or certificate in Site Management or Supervision, Red Seal ticket, or related experience would be an Asset

Experience & Knowledge:

  • On-Site Site Manager/Lead Carpenter experience

  • Residential renovation experience is an asset.

  • Experience in a mentorship or teaching position is an asset
